Description:
Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls is a RPG game published by Level 5, Nintendo released on September 30, 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS.
Description of Bony Spirits/Fleshy Souls
Direct sequel to the very first game, Yo-Kai Watch 2 improves on many things while keeping its core system in place.
The series has been compared to Pokemon in
the past due to both being games about capturing beings that roam the
lands with handy dandy devices but, other than this fact, Yo-Kai Watch
is a completely different game. It’s like apples to oranges.
In this game, you are a young boy/girl that
befriends local Yo-kai through the use of the Yo-kai Watch, a device
that allows the user to both see and recruit Yo-kai by converting bonds
into medals that your protagonist can use.
Continuing off the long summer that still
hasn’t ended in the first game, two nefarious Yo-Kai made your watch
disappear while you were asleep, erasing the memories of all that were
involved with it from the first game temporarily.
In the days after, you experience alot of Dejavus until you luckily reobtain your Yo-kai Watch at a mysterious store.
While you are going about your daily life solving Yo-kai issues that seem to popup, you’ll eventually be confronted with the evil organization with nefarious intentions for the world.

The battle system in this game can summed
up as “Auto Attack”. You can have a party of up to 6 Yo-kai at once and
you can switch the members out. In battle, the top 3 consists of your
front row, the members actually in battle, while the the bottom 3 are
the backrow, reinforcements that you can switch in if needed.
How you do this is with the wheel on the bottom. Using your stylus, you can spin the wheel to change who’s battling.
The Yo-kai also have special attacks called “Soulultimates” that are filled through attacking and once it is full you can unleash it through the button and a small minigame.

To go more in-depth, all Yo-kai can be
divided into eight tribes: Brave, Charming, Tough, Mysterious, Slippery,
Shady, Eerie, Heartful.
By having two or more Yo-kai adjacent to each other in battle, you trigger what is called Tribe Unity, which gives various buffs to the ones triggering it depending on their tribe so placement does matter.

Another bit that more casual players don’t
know is that Yo-kai have attitudes that affect their stat growths and
how they fight in battle.
You can actually change how the Yo-kai fight in battle through books such as if you want them to attack more, defend? a balance of both? but it is quite limited to be honest but it’s better than nothing.

Recruitment of Yo-kai is really really
really RNG based. Like you can get frustrated at never getting some and
at other times, get some easily when you never wanted it.
The way to actually increase your chances is to feed the Yo-kai their favorite food in battle, which can be done before it starts and during battle after cooldown is gone. Still it’s all up to RNGesus and whether he fulfills your wishes.
Targeting helps in recruiting since you don’t want to waste it on random feeding of Yo-kai and it also actually tells you their favorite foods in bold print.
Still this system can be frustrating for some.
